How We Rate Betting Platforms
Every rating on Bookie Hunt is the plain average of the reviews collected for that platform — not editorial staff on retainer, not paid placements, not affiliate deals. Here is exactly where those reviews come from and how the number is worked out.
Community Over Commission
Most comparison sites rank platforms based on the size of their affiliate commission. The operator paying the most appears first, regardless of quality. Bookie Hunt is built on a different model: the community decides.
Platforms rise or fall in our rankings based on verified user reviews and community upvotes. A platform that consistently fails users on payouts or customer service will drop in the rankings — no matter how much they'd pay to stay at the top.
Where the Reviews Come From
Quoted from public sources. Most reviews on the site today are quoted verbatim from public listings — chiefly the Apple App Store, plus consumer review sites — and each one carries a "Web-Sourced" label and names its source. We reproduce the reviewer's exact words, their public handle and their original star score. We do not edit, paraphrase, or write reviews ourselves, and we do not combine several people's comments into one.
Written on Bookie Hunt. Registered users can submit their own review of any platform: one review per user per platform, a 1–5 score, and written text. These appear alongside the quoted ones and count towards the rating in exactly the same way.
What the rating is. A platform's star rating is the average of every review score it has, quoted or first-hand, rounded to one decimal place. A platform with no reviews has no rating. Weighting by reviewer history is something we would like to do once there are enough first-hand reviews to make it meaningful; it is not live today.
What a Useful Review Covers
A review on Bookie Hunt carries a single 1–5 star score and written text. There is no per-criterion scoring. These are the seven things we ask reviewers to speak to, because they are what separates a platform worth using from one that isn't — and they are what we look for when choosing which public reviews to quote.
Odds Quality
Do the platform's odds compare favourably with market average? Reviewers who bet regularly can identify whether they're getting fair value or consistently below-market lines.
Payment Experience
Speed and reliability of deposits and withdrawals. This is one of the highest-friction pain points in betting — slow or refused withdrawals generate the most negative reviews.
Customer Support Quality
Response time, resolution rate, and whether support staff can actually solve problems. Users rate support on a scale from 'resolved quickly' to 'impossible to reach'.
Mobile Experience
Quality of the mobile app or mobile web experience. Covers app stability, speed, live betting usability, and whether key features are accessible on a small screen.
Bonus Terms Fairness
Not the headline bonus figure — the actual terms. Community reviewers evaluate wagering requirements, expiry windows, and whether bonuses are achievable for regular bettors.
Platform Trustworthiness
Licensing, account restriction practices, and overall trustworthiness. Users who experience account limitations after winning consistently flag this, providing a signal unavailable in any official review.
Betting Markets & Features
Depth of sports coverage, availability of live betting, cash-out functionality, bet builder tools, and special markets. Specialist bettors rate this dimension most heavily.
How Community Voting Works
Every platform listing can be upvoted or downvoted by registered users. Votes are shown on the platform card as a separate signal. They do not feed into the star rating.
Registered Accounts Only
Only registered Bookie Hunt accounts can vote. Anonymous visitors cannot.
One Vote Per Account
Each account can cast one vote per platform. Votes can be changed but not multiplied — preventing platforms from artificially inflating their position.
Kept Separate from the Rating
The star rating is the unweighted average of all review scores for that platform, rounded to one decimal place. Votes, reviewer karma and review age do not change it.

Bookie Hunt publishes platform information and industry content. Here's what we do and don't do to maintain independence.
What We Do
- Display all licensed platforms, regardless of commercial relationship
- Show negative reviews alongside positive ones
- Update platform information when users report inaccuracies
- Source industry report data from named, verifiable sources
- Clearly label sponsored or promoted content when it exists
- Remove platforms found to be unlicensed or operating fraudulently
What We Don't Do
- Rank platforms by commission rate or advertising spend
- Remove negative reviews at operator request
- Fabricate review scores or inflate ratings
- Publish sponsored 'reviews' presented as independent assessments
- Accept payment to alter a platform's ranking position
- Suppress community votes that damage a paying partner's position
